Darlings, this message won’t get a translation into Dutch.

So sorry Abilash, Ali, Anandan, Vanky, Vineeth, Chris, Ihmran, Julie, Yanna, Lakshmi, Murugan, Shiam, Megha and all the others that I didn’t make it before the end of this year. But in 2008 I’ll be back again.

Last week the wind folded up lurching the Saffierhorst. But now, skies are unclouded and winter blue. Temperatures are low, 4c and last night it was freezing. Storcks circle above my apartment. High up in the air they play with the thermal. Elegant and full of passion they dive into the deepness. From my nicely warmed living room, I notice this all peacefully. Birds. Beautiful creatures! They will always observe things from a distance. They always survey and they play with the elements full of trust. Before I know it, I’m feeling like a bird too. Totally over viewing 2007.

2007. What a year... Who could have believed it. I wished that 2007 would become my year. My wish came true, this year was absolutely fabulous. Still physically not there. But January 2007 was the kick-off…Pixelqueen, Hi-I-m-from-Holland-and-ponting-in-Cambridge-nice to meet-uuuuuuuuuuuu, Trisha from Chennai, Kokkie 2 in Lunteren, mamma of all kids of Mahabilapuram, champagne member and recently salsagirl!

2007. Began with lots of firework, a chocolate fountain with marshmallows and strawberries, champagne and friends close-by my heart. With them a wintersport in Gargellen. Jeroens libido dropped dramatically when he saw me in my Pino suit. The same Gargellen where a Beaver trail started. William staggered me with his enthusiastic attitude and his beautiful serenade under a snowy heaven enlightened by the moon and stars.

2007. The year the champagne girls reached their targets already before summer! The same year in which the same girls claimed the exclusive dealing right on my forehead, through which there was no space for a spot out of India…
Not only the ladies wanted to participate in my search for a new love. Also my daddy implemented his own unusual techniques. Captain Pitching permitted me to sleep with two iron steeds and an unused love boat for the whole sea trip. So sweet of you daddy!!

2007, the year in Lunteren I became aware that I do have exquisite powers. Purple of laughter Kokkie 1 and I were lying under the ping pong when the bad broke. Unintentionally, but very illustrative for the story.

2007, the year I practically lost my eyebrows during a beauty treatment in Pondicherry. ‘U like miss?’, she asked, while pushing my tear stained head further into the chair. Bathing in swet. Big eyes, full of fear. No escape possibilities. Slavishly I continue this painful once-in-life-time-treatment. Now I understand the words: ‘who wants to be pretty, needs to suffer!’

2007, the year I drove in the middle of the night (sunglasses as protection for all the flying objects) with Shiam in a tuktuk through Chennai. In search for a nice spot for dancing. Chennai, the city where the Shiam-car gave full throttle to the entranceway of Park Hotel many times. Pasha it must be! Drudging itself between all the big cars. From where a diva unfolds and from where Shiam proudly gives his keys to the attendant. Also his car, has to be put away in style! Loved to dance and sing on Hindi pop and western music! Shiam: thank you for all the joy and laughter. Thank you for being my bodyguard sometimes. I m so absolutely naïve…

2007, the year in which the children of Mahabilapuram burned a big place in my heart. Their persistence… their unlimited flexibility… their peerless trust to surrender to life … They changed my vision for ever and they let me experience feelings of futurelessness, helplessness, powerlessness, anger, sadness… all the emotions when I looked at their picture for the first time in my life. But.

The longer I stayed in India, the longer I understood why it is, how it is. How important it is to walk your path in life step by step. That the little steps are the most important ones, because these are bringing the biggest changes. After that click in my head, I was able to do things which just can make your day. Not with tears, but with lots of joy, happiness and laughter. With the same surrender and same persistence…
We were not always able to communicate with each other. I didn’t understand Tamil quit well, they didn’t understand English quit well, but universal language was our union. And the best one people can have. Little Monica who clutched at me, through which we were inseparable, helping with homework, teaching English, beach adventures, the meal Anandan made after hearing the stories, the unprecedented joy while dancing on the roof, independence day… The smiling faces when we met each other…

2007, the year of meeting people out of all corners in this world. Barriers which disappear as we open our hearts for each other and when we are totally in the moment and listening! There is no language barrier, there is no religion- and no time barrier. There is no barrier at all, because there is nothing and again everything when we allow ourselves to make the connection with each other.

2007, the year I met Kar-one! The year we both met Korma and soon called him ‘Korma, aah, we put you in the dish!’ The year in which we walked through Mysore and we were journalists, tv-stars, football women… and the year we were very happy we found the tuktuk-drive-in! The year we acted as real mentalists in a tuk tuk in Chennai. The guy didn’t dare to take us on his commission route! We never had such a quick ride to the place we wanted to be.

2007, the year I received wrestling selfprotection lessons. During a session some furniture didn’t survive! We weed almost in our pants! An unforgettable moment.

The year the champoepel girls went to Milan and we were guided through the city by Chinese, Americans and the whole Milanese nation of MEN. Guided to nice places to dance and eat. A city where the (married) Milanese men absolutely needed to go to the chiropractor on Monday. To correct their necks… A city in which one champ-member needed to run, because a jealous old granny attacked her with her purse…

2007, the year I learned dancing the bachata. The bachata how it’s meant to be… still buzzing …

2007, an unforgetable year. A year in which tears and laughter were shared, a year in which time and place didn’t exist when we were together, a year of harvest, but definitely a year of sowing. A year of making connections, of letting go, of adventure, of inner wisdom, growth and wealth, of travelling, of unconditionality.

I want to thank everybody who made sure this year was a success. Thank you so much for being a source of inspiration. Thank you for holding me close and for being such a source of joy and laughter.

Let’s enter 2008 together. Hopefully a year with just as much content as this one. The champ-ladies-list of 2008 will be made soon. 2008, the year of dancing, the year of opening my Shiatsu practise, starting peer supervision group, lots of sharishable moments and lots more …

Wish you all a wonderful holiday with your family and/or friends and lots of joy on new years eve. Wish you all the best and lets meet again in 2008!

Love and kisses
Patricia

...and still that furniture needs to be fixed... although i was thinking, does it make sense to fix it now? or maybe i will wait till something more is broken in the next session? :)
